Image upload error

All the sudden whenever I try to upload images for a new listing or add image in the user area I get this message:

An error has occured saving uploaded file!

Filename: picture_1.png
File is not uploaded correctly or is empty.
Please correct and try again

I've reloaded the step4 file, checked my accepted image file extensions in my admin, tried different image file types (all were small file sizes)... I'm using v4, but not sure which upgrade version.

....I just checked the permissions on my Connections/classifieds.php file and saw it is set to 644. I tried to change it to 777 but it is not allowing me to. Could this cause what's going on?

In a different thread someone had a similar problem and solved it by: "It has been fixed by a combination of increasing the php and also the apache memory limit." I'll try calling my host about this I guess.

any thoughts on what else could be going on?

You simply dont have enough memory to process the image that was uploaded.

If your on shared hosting good luck getting the memory sized changed.

Oddly, now it just started working correctly out of the blue... very strange and scary.
