Default Only allowing sub categories to have listings

Hi,
On my site i have over 500 categories and is growing. I do not want people posting in the main categories only sub ones.
For example on my site i have Construction Boring & Drilling and in boring & drilling i have 4 sub categories, i dont want people to be able to post ads in boring and drilling. So really i want people to be only allowed to post in the end category.

Although you can deselect the main categories in manage products it doesnt say anything to the user if they select it, it just says no package avalible.
Is it possible for a message to display if they select a main category saying "You must choose a sub category"?

Cheers

Hello,

To change the text in the popup window that appears when a user selects a category that is not active, open up your language.php file and locate the //user checkout section. The last line in that section should handle the text youre looking for, simply change it to whatever you want.

Code:
define("LANG_JS_SELECT_DIF_CAT", "Please select another category. This category can not have ads placed in it.");
