Unhappy Log In Problems

My client is having problems logging in to his website. He enters the correct username and password, says it is successful, then it redirects him back to the log in page.

It is only happening to him and two other people, the rest (including me) can still log in!

Have now included a link to a video he sent me of his problem:
http://www.totalwebcreations.net/LOGINPROBLEMS.wmv

This problem is becoming quite annoying now as previously I was using Noah's free classifieds and he had trouble with cookies/logging in on that which is why I chose 68Classifieds, only to have more log in problems!!

Have posted a ticket already and received advice which I have done - checked for extra spaces in the PHP tags, don't think it's the hosts sessions folder being full as the prob isn't happening to everyone.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem. Would it be worth doing a full re-install and starting again??

Thanks in advance!

2 different classifieds, same host and the same client is having problems, whats the common denominator? The host and the client.

Sessions are stored on the host and "die" after a given amount of time. This means that sometimes people can log in and others they cant. Just depends on when the old sesions are cleared and room is made. So this can be a bit tricky to determine.

Also, how is the client accessing the site? Is he using the same domain name you are or a different URL? I know that the way some servers are setup people will run a site on a subdomain and during a script initiated redirect the domain name changes, which could be throwing off the sessions.

What browser is he using / Version?

Have him download the newest version of firefox and see if that fixes anything.

Hmmm...well he says he has the latest version of IE. Just got him to try creating a new user, he's getting the same problem logging in. It would be so much easier if it was happening to everyone!! He's accessing the site correctly (I made sure I sent him the link!) I'm not sure about the session prob - he can't seem to log in at all.

The only way foward with this I can see is a complete re-install and start from scratch....but would grateful for anymore input!

Thanks!

A reinstall wont fix anything so dont go down that line. If everyone else can login then there is no problem with the system.

When I was running a fantasy football site using 68, I had few members who struggled logging in from their places of work. Is your client running from a network?

Also, have your client email you his login details and see if you can login into his account.

This sounds to me like its your clients machine

I've been thinking that myself, although he has said that three of his friends can't log in either. It just seems odd that he could log in to start with and place ads etc, but now he can't.

I'll try asking him for his log in details and see if I can log in here.

It might be worth asking if anyone would mind trying to create a user and log in to the site on here? Anyway, if you have the time the website is: www.airportadvertiser.com (Don't worry not asking for test ads to be placed!!)

Was wondering if a re-install might help as it could be something I've done to one of the files?

Thanks!

Just been looking through some other posts, racking my brains - could it be to do with the version of PHP my host is running or maybe it is to do with the sessions/session ID's?

Not sure what to do next really; waiting for client to send me his log in details and those of his two friends having trouble. I'm just really puzzled as to why this problem has suddenly started happening, even though they could log in fine before?

Just thought I would add - when I go in to the Admin control panel, it shows their last log ins as the times that they've tried to log in, even though it threw them back to the login page.

Still not had much joy with this problem; I can log in as client, he still can't log in. Seems like it might be his PC (and his friends) to blame. I'm still puzzled as to why the problem has only just arisen though?

Does anyone have any advice as to where to go with this problem now. If he can't log in to his own site, the project isn't really going anywhere!

Any additional advice would be much appreciated.

Ask him what operating system, browser, etc he is using and post that information here.

Like:
windows xp, ie 6.0
mac, firefox 1.7
etc.

Also see if you can get him to try a different browser.
