Default Problem with spanish language

Hello,

I just setup my C68 in spanish but all my letters as , , , ,... show wrong

I already changes the code in the language file and the main template header to iso-8859-1 but this only affected the letters in the navigation (which show correct now *funny*) but the text in the pages (like HOME) and in the forms and tables still read like this:

Anuncios Gratis - Reg*strate de forma fácil y rápida
List Price:0,00€
Precio:0,00€

Not even the sign shows right.

Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks & regards

Gregor

Can you try changing the header to UTF-8 and see if that fixes it?

Yes, changing back to UTF-8 makes some of the texts on the page show correctly but other witch were fine bevor now show wrong like the navigation, with was OK on iso-8859-1, now on UTF-8 is bad.

I tried all the possibilities in lang file and template file but I cant find a way to show both correct.
I hope there is a solution for this, if not......?? I can't use this "multilingual" system for my site.

Hello Again,

OK, after changing back to UTF-8 in the template header, the texts that come from the database looks OK, only the text bits from the spanish.php lang file look still bad. This can be cured by writing all special chatacters in the language file like this:

ó =
í =
á =
ñ =
...and so on.

Another question to all spanish speaking 68C clients. Would somebody be so nice and send me a translated spanish.php to my mail address. Before purchasing 68C I asked if a language file in spanish is available, but the one sent to me is:
1. missing a lot of words.
2. only 60% of the words in the file are translated into spanish.

As I am not a nativ spanish speaking person,so it would be nice if somebody would send me a translated file.
I -ofcourse- will change all the special characters later.

kind regards y saludos,
Gregor

This is easily done using the find and replace feature if you still need to do it.

Have you save this translation file in the UTF-8 format also ?
This should help, if all other files are UTF-8.

Hola ombre,

yes this was the first thing I tried, but without any success (which I really don't understand!!!)

I believe it has todo with the MySQL Connection Character Sets and Collations being set to UTF-8 Unicode. On my other pages, where I run multilingual websites (/german/english/spanish) it is set to latin1_swedish_ci (please dont ask why swedish, but it works) and in the HTML header I always use iso-8859-1 for all languages.

salu2,
Gregor
