Default auto logout from Admin panel when reentering PW in Reg User account

070411

What version of 68 Classifieds are you running?
V4.2.3 Developer

What template are you using?
Default

Please describe in detail the issue you are having:

When I go into admin panel>users>Manage users and enter new password on right, upper side of the account info on a test Registered User account and then hit Update I am logged out automatcially from my admin panel and required to login again.

Is it suppose to do this? If so, why? Is this not one of the ways these PW boxes can/should be used by admin?

If not, any thoughts on how to tweak it?

Thanx,
Don

That would NOT be the normal behavior at all. It doesn't do it on any of mine.

Have you made any changes to the administration/users.php file? If not, you may want to check that file for corruption.

Nada! cleared everything suggested a couple of times and still auto logs me out of admin window back to login screen.

I don't seem to be able to work myself out of these seemingly small but persistantly pesky issues.

Open to other thoughts...

PS Perhaps submit a ticket? Not sure how to proceed without additional thoughts and all are welcome.

Upload your includes folder and your administration folder again - probably file corrupted as suggested already.

If you are talking about 2 different accounts, one for admin and then a non admin test user I beleive that happens to me as well. My guess is its how cookies/sessions are created/stored for the site and users for the same site are not differentiated so once you log in as a new user the cookie gets overwritten with the new session login.

What I generally do if I am using a test user (non admin) and a admin user at the same time, I open 2 different browsers, One to host the front end test client(say safari for example) and one for my admin session (say firefox).

Thanx Larry. But its simpler AND more complex than that (I think).

Ie. When i am in Admin ONLY and go to Manage Users screen. I select a NON ADMIN test account that is registered but I want to change the password. In the top, right corner of the Manage Users screen there are two boxes for password and password confirm (corrected)l confirm I assume were put there for this reason.

When I fill in those 2 boxes and then go to the bottom and hit update I'm logged out automatically and taken to the Admin login screen.

I'm not even sure this is how these boxes are to be used but no one has corrected me to date so I'm assuming this was designed to allow the administrator to tweak individual accounts, passwords included, as needed.

Thanx! Appreciate any/all ideas.

Not sure where to go from here...

Don

Assuming that you actually meant password and password confirm, right?

Try it on the 68 Classifieds demo site.
