Well, I've finally finished my classifieds site and wanted everyone to take a gander. Please let me know if you see any problems or have suggestions so I can put it back into testing!!!

Please feel free to comment on the rest of the site too. Running 3.1.3, Wish me luck!!

Well I like it

Theres a lot of work gone into that one, easy to use and navigate as well.

Not that many boer goat sites, so should be popular as soon as people aree aware that its been launched.

Hope it goes well for you

Yea I just did a search and google returned:
About 80,400 for boer goat classifieds.

You should be able to get a very good ranking with that site.

Yes, we are going to run some print ads, make flyers and distribute them at the nationals (or at least my partners, I know "" about goats...). I'll post something in the marketing forum once we develop a sound strategy.

Once I get some content I'll be working on the search engines. Anybody got any good search engine tips?

Here is my quick and easy tip.

On your home page put your number one key phrase in h1 tags. Then use your style sheet to make it blend in so it isn't so huge. Also do the same for the title.

Eric that is brilliant - would you like to add that to 'site marketing' please? I can look after the 'how-to' questions if they arise. How does <h2> and <h3> and <h4> fit in with this theory?

Good idea. I am honestly not a search engine expert but I know the basic tricks to get ranked high.

For me I found the best luck with a small keyword list then picking the number 1 term you want. After that term is selected I then use it for the title and the very first heading on the page in <h1> tags. Now I make no promises about <h2> and onward. I would assume that is a good idea that way you could pinpoint the first keyword in h1 then the second in h2 and so on.

Next for external links try your best to get others to link to you with the keywords in the site link. For example: <a href="mysite.com">Boer Goat Classifieds</a>. I have heard this works as well.

Then if all else fails create mini sites that link to the main site. For example have a goat classifieds site then create a goat content site that includes links to the classifieds. Then you are basically trapping the goat market because surely they will find one of the sites.
