Default Memberhips - Who uses them?

I am still in the building stage of my auto classifieds site. I'm trying to decide whether to offer memberships. My site will have three ad packages: Free, Basic and Premium. If I offer memberships they would be based on the ad packages. Do others with auto classified sites offer memberships? Are they profitable? Are they purchased very often? Any insight into memberships would be appreciated.

BTW, one reason I am concerned about the memberships is I can't get the authorization feature in memberships to work correctly at this time. Does it work properly for those who use memberships on their site?

Thanks,

Well I was trying to use them but stop as at this moment they not working properly, or maybe better to say they working not the way that I need.
My main concerns about memberships are:
1. Memberships are not renewable.
2. Memberships are not approved automatically, if you are using PayPal.
3. More than one membership - same customer.
I am waiting until these stuff will be fixed, because without these you will need all the time monitor memberships and do a lot of things manually.

I just posted a thread asking how to create the memberships, and I planned on using them for Car Dealers. I called Autotrader.com and they charge dealers $750 or $1300 per month. The trouble I am running into with dealers is they are lazy. Some of the big classified sites can accept the dealer's feed from their website, so when they modify a listing it changes on the classified site.

I would love to have this ability as it would sure make this a huge money maker.

A dealer makes at least $1,000 per used car sale, so charging them $750 per month with unlimited listings is a win win situation for them and us the classified site. If they only sell 3 cars a month using your site it is worth it if their work is not that involved like accepting their feed.

These are just my thoughts. If someone with more programming knowledge than I have could make this happen we would all be rich!!!

Yeah I need to be able toaccept the dealer's feed, so it is more of a feed reader.

Ya, that was kind of freaky. I had to remove it from phpmyadmin.

I wish I knew what was being said by who. It is removed now, will have to update the demo.

Default Not sure why this still has not been addressed

There are a considerable amount of posts on this website regarding memberships and how they dont work and there are problems.

I dont want to have to repeat myself but I guess I have to. I fixed the membership system, I went through it with a fine toothcombe and have it working - live with no problems no bugs and as it should be.

Here is the link to the page with all the instructions that you will need to follow if you want to run memberships on 3.1

Membership Fix

It might be an idea if one of the moderators could make a sticky so that users of 3.1 can use their membership systems.

Pick this back up in your original post. I'm willing to help, but need more info.
