Image upload blank screen problem (not file size related)

Hi Everyone
Hope someone can help

I'm just setting up my first site (3.1.9 designer ed) and I'm having problems with the image upload.

I defined a listing package with 1 photo allowed. When I subsequently try to place a test ad using that package, after I've chosen the image I want to upload and click continue, the pop up 'image upload' window appears/ disappears then the main window changes url to

http://www.mysite.com/usercheckout.php?upload=true

but it's just a blank screen (viewing the source shows nothing) and I can't continue to place the ad. (This happens regardless of if I use GD / GD2)

If a define a listing package with 2 photo's allowed, then I can successfully upload the first photo, but uploading the second photo produces the same results as above.

Same thing with 3 photos (2 allowed). In all cases I can upload 1 less image then the number defined in the listing package. If I try to upload the the same number of images that are defined in the listing package, I just get the blank screen.

Any help greatly appreciated !

I did have some issues with photos appearing as blank black images instead of the actual image. When I opened them using The Gimp though it told me there were errors in the pictures themselves so I resaved using The Gimp and uploaded again and they dispayed without issue, not sure if this is your issue though...
