Default Demo site getting ridiculously high rankings???

Well as some of you know and many of you dont, I am the Search Engine Master. Before I started web development I worked in the SEO company for a huge british company that stole from all its clients and sold services that never worked. I was intrigued as to why the services didnt work and so started making my own little experiments with clients websites to what worked and what didnt and within a short matter of time ALL of my clients were enjoying brilliant rankings, not always number one but getting lots of enquiries from lots of different phrases.

I have always applied these techniques to every site I have built since leaving that wretched company and my sites always do fantastically well.

Whats been happening lately though is I have been getting emails every day from people trying to place ads on my demo site for the classified-software system, the 68 v3.1 with all the super dooper mods which nobody seems to want to take advantage of.

The demo site is set up as used-photocopiers.com, a domain I own along with many others but one I am not using at the moment. I promised myself I would set them up one day but been ultra busy. The demo is meant to show how easy it is to set up a classifieds site in a day or two and actually make good money from it.

Anyways, I normally just ignore the emails thinking that the users are stupid for not clearly noticing that the site isnt active and is in a sub-folder on my maffo.co.uk site.

After spending a few weeks on a project, I finally got a little bit of spare time and today I had another two emails come through so I replied to them both saying the site isnt active but asked them how in the biggins, did they stumble across my site. Both came back with the same answer. Your top of google. I have no idea what phrases they have typed in so I just did some little tests.

Now, please bear in mind that this site is empty, it has zero content, not one little advert.

Try this links below

Canon Photocopiers for sale

Xerox Photocopiers for sale

I did a lot of searches and a few came out at number 1, I cant remember them all, but pretty much everything I type in is coming up in the top 30

photocopiers for sale, canon photocopier parts, xerox parts, you name any type of combination and the sites up there.

So now Im thinking????? What an absolutely huge business opportunity. If im getting these rankings with zero site content, I am gonna be able to sweep the rug from under everyone elses feet if I market this little beauty and get some ads on there. With a little bit of tweaking I can get my new bulk upload system running with this, can contact dealers of new and used office equipment, parts merchants, the whole darn dirty lot of them and have my site stuffed with ads. There is so much revenue to be made with this, the banner mod on this system is 100 times more powerful than the standard maffo banner mod. I literally have millions of banner spaces available with only ever 1 being displayed on any certain page. I can make them ridiculously cheap to advertise and sell them in bulk such as 50 banners at a pound a piece.

I optimised every single little detail on my classified software system and I guess its starting to show. Once the site is sat in its own domain it will have an even stronger presence as well!! Sorry, Im really excited by this!!! I have two domains registered for it, used-photocopiers.com and also the .co.uk For anybody that doesnt know, used-photocopiers is better than usedphotocopiers.

I have load more domains/ideas as well that I purchased quite a while back,

If anyone is interested in taking one of these projects on, please let me know.

pet-dog.co.uk
pet-cat.co.uk
pet-lizard.co.uk
pet-rabbit.co.uk
pet-spider.co.uk
pet-rat.co.uk & dont laugh... pet-monkey.co.uk

used-furniture.co.uk
used-yacht.co.uk
used-trailer.co.uk

used-motorbike.co.uk
&
used-motorbike.com

If you think you could market one of these sites then have a real good look at the capabilities of the classified software and have a good think on how you approach, then approach me.

Or if you can think of your own domain/product, even better. Classified software is more suited towards a select market rather than one of the type that sells absolutley everything.

Also remember that classified-software has the 'multisite' feature so you can run unlimited amout of classifieds sites with just the one licence and have as many domains pointed to it as you like. Just make sure you have them pointed to the correct part of your site.

Well I have my two week break to go and think about a nice new site to market

Great work Maffo!

Can you help make a similar or better site than www.hotswap.com?
It's basically an auto video classifieds.

I have great domain names reserved for different projects.

Happy Holidays!

Depends what you mean by better? Thats a very nice site using ajax for easy searching and it looks great. Its not really in my interests to copy another site. The entire point of my classified package is that you do not need to go in and start changing everything. Its ready for you to start 'marketing'. Getting listings. Once business is generating and cash is coming in, then and only then would I think about making modifications to the site.

If you are looking for a site like the one you have placed in the link, you are better off starting from scratch.

I can really used the used-motorbike.com site. Are you looking to sell them? You also just sold me on your classifieds mod as well. Maybe you can set it up with the custom mods I've been touch with you about?

Hiya Mike, the system already has a good membership system built it. What Im wondering is, how the system you proposed will actually slot into 68.

You want the memberships to renew monthly??

I just want to get this clear in my head thats all

Suppose a membership is 10 listings. The user has a month to use them ten listings before automatically purchasing another 10 listings?

Im pretty confident I can get something like that up and running, my only issue would be as paying customer is if I have only used 2 of my listings and then I am billed for another ten that I may or may not need.

Are your customers likely to be dealers or ordinary folk?

If they are dealers you could use the bulk upload system and just bill the dealers directly (not using 68). And ordinary folk can use standard ad listings and normal memberships.

I raise these concerns because the checkout process on 68 is the most complex part of the system. Once you start messing with it, obviously its gonna get even more complicated.

As for the used-motorbike.com, set up correctly has a lot of potential.

Have a think over xmas and make me an offer!!!

Mostly, the members are going to be dealers. Each membership includes a certain # of ads that can be regular, bold, and/or with pictures. You buy a membership that includes the level of ads you want. If you don't use all of the ads, you still pay for them. I would like for the memberships to renew each month until cancelled. If you have X # of ads and your membership runs out, the ads are expired. All memberships get for you is X # of ads per month.

I'll give the used-motorbike.com domain some thought and get back to you after Christmas.

Mike

Like I said in my previous post, In my honest opinion you will be better off leaving the site as it is. This is regardless of whether or not you use my modded site or the standard 68 setup. You can easily approach dealers or even set up a special page for dealers which subscribes them to your site. If they keep up their payments I can write you a little script that renews all of that clients ads upon confirmation of payment. This way, your site code is left alone. Standard users arent affected by memberships that simply do not respect their needs and dealers have a nice contract with you.

Thats how I would do it. Its simple and it works.

Hey Maffo,

Just want to ask, why you so excited about these keywords?
They absolutely not competitive:
Canon Photocopiers for sale
Xerox Photocopiers for sale

Don’t get me wrong. It is nothing personal, just SEO to SEO question.
You are very good programmer and have very nice classifieds system.

Im not too sure if you guys call them xerox machines but we call them photocopiers. So the UK market phrases like photocopiers for sale are quite valuable phrases. I think im around 20th on google for that and have no doubts that with content and inbound links the site can massively improve on that. I wouldnt say my rankings are absolutley worthless and Im sure had I not have optimised the site as I have, it wouldnt be the top for anything.

To be top for 'canon photocopiers' would be nigh on impossible, I think canon themselves would like that spot and then there are hundreds of big office equipement business with huge budgets, so its just nice if I can get all the alternative phrases when a user uses a combination of words such as canon photocopier for sale or xerox photocopier parts. All those single hits add up.

Remember its only a demo site. and no offence taken!

This is my last post of the year so see yall in 2008!!!

How would dealers who signup on the site be handled?
