Is there a way to purge the server/database of adds tha have been innactive for more then say 6 months or so?

I am not completely understand the process how the program works, but I guess the ads are removed automatically several days after expiration day, depend on your settings. Or you may delete them manually at any time you want.

I believe the developers and moderators will correct me, if I am not right.

Yes, I believe the default is 72 hours after expiration.
