Well, the bStore module is the result of work on the directory. We originally intended the directory to work as a module but found the installation getting pretty busy. I think for most users it might have been a bit too much.

The bStore module will do the core functions that the directory modification would have done. Some features have been stripped out such as downloads, custom extra pages for users, and a few other features.

The module itself is quite large, so we decided it would be better to strip these features out and make them addons since it would be easier to support isolated areas of the module. These features will be coming as low cost module add-ons or as new features in future versions.

Once we get this module out we still plan to work on a modification that will be something like a different version of the current script, with most of the main pages reworked to focus on business listings.

Most of the code has been written/modified and then reworked into a module, leaving the overall feel of the script unchanged. We've tried real hard to keep the interface inline with the processes yourself & customers are already familiar with.

As for a decision, the module is really a beefed up store, with custom categories within stores, custom layouts for stores, and the ability to charge for the store itself. The features are all there so you could use this module to make a business listing site. This module's purpose would be to add the ability of business listings/stores to an existing classifieds site, the directory modification would likely be less geared toward classifieds.
