Does that mean if someone is thinking of adding a forum to a new site they should do it right at the outset ... rather than AFTER the site is up and running with a number of members having joined.
|
sleepy: Doing it sooner rather than later would be the best way to go. Otherwise you will need to email all your currect users that they should use their present username and password to establish as account in the forums. (ERIC - please confirm this and any other consequemces you are aware of).

I have only ever installed phpBB before and know my way around it pretty well. I am once again going to be installing a forum soon, so im wondering which way to go.

Maffo: Given your experience with phpBB, you will find it relatively easy to install and set up the vBulletin forums - I did. I also have phpBB operating at 2 other sites. Yes free is great but since experiencing vBulletin, I am happier with it. More features, more intuitive but with ALL the options, does take time to set it up just the way you want. No skill here - just time. vBulletin does provide more 'admin help' within the actual script. However vBulletin needs to be re-registered (paid for) each 12 months as do the skins - mine is 'bluesaint' from
www.vbstyles.com. It's the same as used for the 68 forums. Cost is US$30/year.

At the moment Im swayed towards the Vbulletin simply for the module plugin

There is also a 68mods forum integration script for phpBB as well. It is here:
