Default Design / Layout Flexibility

Hello! I am considering giving 68 Classifieds a try ... it could be a good fit for several new projects I have coming up, however, I have some concerns about the design / layout flexibility and ability to customize. when i view the frontend demo source i dont see such much in the way of ID's or Classes to use for css purposes. i dont see any way to target specifc pages (without using some tricky jquery to find a way to target unique content on the page or something).

is there a place where i can read / view / test to get a better idea of what is available, whether using the designer or the developer version my goal is to be able to customize the look and layout how i want without paying hundreds of dollars to find out it wont work for my skill level.

i currently use Build a Website - Create a Blog - Squarespace for most of my web projects (can view my portfolio at VUELA Design Studio | Graphic & Web Design | Olympia, Washington - Works), but a few new projects have come up that need more of the specific types of functionality that 68 classifies offers. with squarespace cms that i'm used to i start out with their basic template and then i can apply my own custom css, javascript, jquery, inject html content etc to make modifications. but their templates are heavy with ID's and Classes to access in order to do this.

anyone have any leads for me for really nice example sites (i havent been able to find many samples), video tutorials, or ideally a free trial would be appropriate. any info is appreciated!!

One of the "beauties" of using 68 Classifieds (in my opinion) is the fact that the layout/design structure is completely separate from the functionality regardless of whether you use the Designer or the Developer edition. Everything regarding the layout/design is in one template folder.

If you are used to modifying a default template as you say, then you should be right at home in modifying a default template with this software script.

I would suggest that you take some time to go through the online documentation to discover a lot more about how things work both functionally as well as from a design/layout standpoint.

Regarding modifying the default layout specifically and to help you with a better understanding of the structure of how 68 Classifieds uses the "template files", you could visit my blog which I have several articles specific to 68 Classifieds. I would recommend starting with my Modifying the default v4.1.x template in 68 classifieds article first.

Another extremely good source is this forum itself which is chock full of information. Using Search in this forum is your friend.

You can see a set of templates and modules that we offer at TemplateCodes and some example sites are also shown (need to update these ). Here is a site I just did the other say which is fully optimized for search engines too so it is a bit special in that regard:

French Property For Sale

People go on from our templates http://demo.templatecodes.com/ to make all types of sites for all types of purposes and markets, introducing both color and structural changes. You can see the basic types using the template switcher in the accordion menu (sidebar).
