We will be collecting ads from all over the USA. We want to be able to allow those searching ads to be able to ONLY SHOW ads in their state or X miles from their zipcode...for example.

Kinda...a little bit lit Craigslist where you can toggle over to just your state/area and see ads ONLY for these areas...without having to do an advanced searches every time.

make sense?

Yes I understand and I would imagine a lot of this could be done with the zip code module. The biggest problem is how you want to get this information before any listings are displayed. IE are you going to have them enter the zip code on your home page?
