Hi Larry, we are interested because we want to see that 68C can handle the level of usage that we currently have. If there are not vBulletin integrated examples out there then it would be great to see some sites handling 100s of ads each day, do you know of any?

Your not reading what I type. All the 68C sites are know of are niche sites so not that large as I stated above.

Seeing a busy 68C site proves absolutely nothing because a good portion of a sites ability to handle a load is based on the hardware, NOT the software....although granted poorly written code can cause problems.

Fair enough, if in your opinion there are no large 68C sites out there then that's fine and your point has been made.

However can anyone point us at any that integrate with vBulletin? Even if they're just niche sites, it'd be nice to see them as we've found talking to the owners of such sites very fruitful in terms of discovering any issues which we might want custom coding before we launch.

Thanks

Im sure there would be, but what Larry is trying to say is that 68c is irrelevant to how many ads a site can handle. It can handle as many ads as the server can.
Not sure about any sites with Vbulliten but there is a module for it off the top of my head.

I also have a couple of clients that do indeed have 100's of ads and even on a shared hosting server. They work great and we haven't had any issues with "service" at all. I don't give out clients personal information or URLs though.

Thanks guys - that's the kind of stuff I was hoping for - just a bit of reassurance for a new customer

Hopefully Eric will get in touch soon, we're keen to get started but need a fair amount of customization before we can 'go'.

PS. We'll also be requiring some custom templates making, I'll drop you all a line to discuss

seriouswheels.com and forestryequipmentsales.com are both fairly large but not 100's of ads daily. They are also older versions of 68C.

It would be nice if there was some metric to judge a the ability of 68C to handle large amounts of data but performance tuning is more of an art form than a science and there are so many variables, especially when you dont even own the hardware the software is running on.

Quite frankly I do not see what this has to do with 68C software as Larry points oput. This is a server and hosting issue. Even a telecommunications one. Software is largely about functionality although it will impact performance if written badly. The server will finally decide performance in terms of handling high volume of visitors. I actually think the question needs to be addressed to your hosting provider really as you could have two lines of code and a pathetic hosting provider. You will almost certainly need a to be thinking about having a dedicated server and even more, asking about bandwidth for high volumes of traffic. And even then, it is about where your visitors are, there ISPs and the telecommunications companies they are using.

Thanks for the reply. I think this topic is pretty much finished, but just to clarify from our point of view that we're already on a dedicated server and serving ads via a different software package, so that wasn't the reason for the query. It was more in terms of seeing other large sites putting their faith in to 68C, it's mainly a sales thing, i.e. "68C is used by XYZ" - more of an illogical, intangible factor towards making a purchasing decision

Thanks for all the replies though and now lets move to the next stage, getting 68C up and running for some testing
