Hi,
I am looking to buy the designer package, but have a payment gateway related question. Has anybody used Multicards as a gateway for 68 Classifieds? We are based in the UK and need a gateway based in UK or Europe, otherwise there seems to be problems with US based processors. If not multicards could anyone suggest a UK/European gateway we could use that have succesfully integrated with 68 Classifieds. Thanks in advance. Kev. |

Not that I am aware of. What about paypal, worldpay or 2Checkout? For me paypal has always worked fine on quite a high volume site and I am in France with customers in France and the U.K mainly. I will not say anymore than that but service efficiency springs to mind. I always say that you will need to have significant volume of business to move away from paypal. It rarely makes economic sense without very high volumes and lots of revenue. Making your own gateway is possible (I know of one person who did it) but not without being an expert in coding - it is one of the more complicated things to do.

Thanks for the feedback,
Paypal may be the way to go, I've also used worldpay in the past and they were okay, just as long as I can use some European based processor I don't mind which. Also, another few questions spring to mind: 1. Can I set up to only allow people who have registered with us to view ads? 2. Membership packages are mentioned, can I set up a free one for people who have registered and a second one for people who have registered but who pay a monthly fee? 3. Are site search variables editable i.e. "restaurants" "restaurants + Town" "restaurants + postcode" The postcode option would be a big factor for us. Thanks again. Kev. |

1. Yes - you can change settings for different usergroups - guest, registered user and admin. You can even code a little bit to add and modify certain viewable things in general if they are not covered in the control panel.
2. You can find details about the memebership module here http://techconnx.net/images/membersh...odule%20V2.pdf 3. You could look at the advanced search on a site like this on our "real" demo site Global Boats For Sale to see how search functions. This search is also available anywhere on your site using the global search module TemplateCodes | 68 Classifieds Search Module 4. There is a postal codes module (which works for the U.K ) - ClassifiedMods Postal Codes and there is also a location module TemplateCodes | 68 Classifieds Location Filter. It depends on what you wish to do. One last point. If you want to customize the functionality of your system (over and above the use of modules) you should think more in terms of purchasing the developer version. If you are only wanting to change the basic look and feel of your site then you can use the designer version. You can of course always upgrade later if needed. |

Firstly, thanks for the speedy info responses. Greatly appreciated.
I've checked out the links you suggested and am most impressed, I'm in a hurry to get this going so a template would probably be the best way to go. With a template (or within the editor settings) is it possible to make the print friendly page option more prominent, or ideally to add a print coupon option to an ad page. I.e. "print voucher for 20% discount" this would then print a friendly version of the ad preferably with the date on it. And secondly, can I add flash or static graphics some of which will link to external sites and some of which will simply be to make the pages look more attractive. If so can this be done in the designer or the developer package? Many thanks. Kev. |
