Default Pre-sale questions

I'm looking for a classifieds software and so far I like what I see in 68. I do have a few questions though.
First, I plan to run a classifieds site with multiple subdomains for city-specific ads under the same domain (e.g. sandiego.mysite.com). Will purchasing 1 license be ok for me to use on multiple subdomains?
Does 68 offer payment flexibility where I can pick and choose what type of ads to make free and which ones are to be fee-based (e.g. household items for sale - free, jobs - fee based)?
Does purchasing either designer or developer license ensure removal of "Powered by" link?
I'm not very good with PHP, will I lack anything if I choose to go designer instead of developer? I really like the Default 3 Column template that comes with 68, so as long as I can just replace the 68 logo and the yellow folders with my own images, I think I will be ok with designer license.

I think this is it for now, I might have more to come

Thanks in advance,

Sly

Forgot one more thing...
Couldn't find the answer in admin panel. Is it possible to disable the number of ads for each category to be shown?

1. Not sure
2. Yes - great flexibility
3. Yes it can be removed
4. Yes - designer will allow you to do most things but you will need developer as your requirements for functional customization increase.
5. Yes you can do this in admin

1. The license is per domain. You can run multiple copies on the same domain.

Eric, so does that mean I would have to buy a separate copy for each city even though it would be under the same domain (mysite.com)? If so, do you offer any volume discounts?

Thanks,

Sly

It would appear that Eric is saying that since sub-domains are under a *single* domain, only one license is required.

Thanks to all.

The last concern (I think it's the last one) I have is my host and ionCube. I'm not really sure what ionCube is and what you eat it with. Have you had any feedback from iPower customers? How does iPower rate with support and installation of ionCube?

By the way Eric, congratulations on your new baby girl!

Some of the files for the classifieds are encoded so they can not be read/altered. This encoding is handled by ioncube and for the script to run it requres an ioncube loader be run which is free.

A quick google search seems to indicate that for an ipower hosted site you can use your ownb php.ini file and include the loader string in it so it doesnt look like running ioncude will be an issue.

ok, I'm ready to go for it but I have a few last minute questions.

1. Can the posting be enforced to subcategories only, if they do exist? While playing around with demo, I've noticed you can post an ad anywhere in category without having to pick a sub-cat.
2. Can an "adult content" warning and agreement be added to certain category pages? (kind of like craigslist has it setup)
3. I plan to pay for installation. What is the image size required to replace the 68C demo logo in Column 3 Default template?
4. I also would like to purchase search-engine friendly url and similar item modules. I dont believe I'm able to add these to shopping cart during checkout. Do I just purchase them separately and add them myself after installation is complete?
5. How safe is my hosting account privacy after granting access to your staff? (just a little worried)
6. Does paid installation also cover the whole process of installing IonCube, or do I have to take care of that myself?
7. Is PayPal acceptance on 68C compatible with both PayPal Standard and PayPal Pro types of accounts?

Thanks,
Sly

Hi,

1. Yes when creating categories you can set it to "allow ads". If set to no then ads can't be placed in it.

2. I am sure this can. Probably have to be added to the template file though. No setting in admin to control that.

3. That template and the default doesn't include a logo image. The head portion is just text.

4. You should be able to purchase all together and we will install all them together.

5. We keep your information safe and only use it to do the install. You can always change it later after the installation is complete.

6. Yes it includes that as well. As long as your host allows it.

7. Currently only the Paypal IPN which I think is the standard.
