Default Couple Questions

In the 68 Classifieds Designer, how do I reduce the overall width of everything. What I mean is so more margin on the right and left showed making a narrower overall appearance?

Also how can I reduce the font size in the left menu?

Need to tighten spacing between category links. http://www.68classifieds.com/forums/...hlight=spacing This tells how to do this, but not where, I have no experience in php.

Help is appreciated Thank you!

Hi,

All the layout is managed through the template files and the style sheet.

Could you be more specific on how to do that?

PHP is for the data collection and manipulation it has very little if anything to do with the layout and look of the page.

The layout and design is handled by the smarty templates or the style sheet for the template you are using.

Do yourself a favor and download the firefox browser along with the web developer plugin and the firebug plugin.

These will allow you to click on a word or section of the web page and "inspect elemt" which will show you the exact html code and css used for that element of the page.

W3 schools has some great starter info on css, html and ven php.

Don -
I would like to point out....
You requested a refund yesterday and we honored our 14-day money back policy.
As a result:
a) you got your money back
b) you have not paid for the files you are now trying to modify
c) your license has been disable and your site won't work anymore

If you plan on continuing to use the files and requesting help, you need to repurchase.

Thanks-

As per your email, I was taking a second look at the software. Trying to see if I could make it do what I needed. That is why I was asking questions. There might be a lot of people out there trying to cheat you, but I'm not one of them. All the 68classified file were deleted from my system yesterday. I'm merely trying to assess if I'm going to reorder.

Duly noted!

Larry's original reply includes a link to http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp which has a lot of information on modify html, css, php, etc.

I would like to include www.tizag.com -
Their tutorials are a bit more straightforward with less detail.

Thanks-

Don-

One last thing to keep in mind...
You don't necessarily have to know how PHP works and how it interacts with the database. I would suggest you focus your efforts (as you're doing) on the .tpl files. Don't get caught up trying to understand everything all at once. Set small goals and figure out how to complete each step before moving on to the next.
