Hi, I'm looking for a Classified Ads server that has a low risk of getting hacked. Can you tell me about how you are ensuring that your scripts are secure?

Thanks.

Funnily enough I was just about to ask a similar question...

One of the deciding factors in me choosing 68 was this feature on the homepage

Quote:
Safe and Secure
68 Classifieds has been audited by Gulftech Research and Development to make sure it is free from vulnerabilities.
What I want to know is does this appy to V4??

If it helps you decide... there's a very active forum and any bugs/security issues are fixed very quickly!

Default Convert ads from other Classified script?

Hi,

Just wondering if it's possible to move existing ads from a competing Classified Ads script (XZero) to 68Classifieds?

Are there people in the community who could do this? I'd pay for the service.

All the best,
Jim

The short answer is yes. Unfortunately its not always that simple. How many ads do you have?

Default conversion

Hi Lhotch,

At the moment I'm not sure - because I've currently taken it off-line - as a security precaution. I've been running it for a couple of years, so I expect there are quite a lot of records.

I've just check my database - and there are 870 records in the ads MySQL table. I suspect that is a good indication of the number of adverts.

Does that seem do-able?

All the best,
Jim

That seems very doable as long as you have access to the database with something like phpMyAdmin. The complexity of it lies in how it stores your ads (e.g. how many tables all of the information is actually in).

It's most likely just a CSV dumb and a reassigning of the fields to the proper corresponding fields in 68c.

Default Convert ads from XZero Classified script?

There are 20 tables - these are the tables. I've changed the names to protect the innocent:

pics
ads
fields
areas
categories
cities
countries
Brevents
featured
img-comments
images
ipblock
ipns
extended-options
featured-options
payments
promos-extended
promos-featured
subcats
subcatxfields

If I can't get someone to do the conversion for me I'll purchase 68 Classifieds. I have access to PHPMyAdmin - and expect I can export the data as a CSV file as you suggest.

Was the best way forward? How do I provide my contact details for an interested developer? What would be a ballpark cost?

Thanks.

Jim,

I would suggest that you simply ask any interested developer to send you a Private Message since you're a registered user on here.

You would need to be more specific about what exactly you would require in order for someone to give you a quote. For instance, are you going to set up the 68c with your categories and extra fields, which it appears that the other classifieds has? Are you just wanting a CSV that you can import yourself into 68c?

I might be interested in doing this, but I would need more information as to what you wanted. You can PM me directly if your interested.

There are so many things to consider when lookingat doing an export/import. The table layout and relationship between the tables that comprise the ads are a big factor in how complex the export will be.

Then on the 68C for the import you in essence have to automate the ad placement. But to do that the site needs to have its categories, ad packages, extra fields etc etc all defined because all of that will have a direct effect on the import. Also, for 68C all the ads are tied to a user so before you can even import the ads you have to import the users as well.

Its certainly doable but will involve quite a bit of work.

I agree with Larry (lhotch). The first thing you will need to do is set up your users accounts. Do you know if your current users passwords are stored in MD5 format?
