This price issue is _really_ a problem if the field "price" remains in the ad form. Actually, managing the field "price" at the upper level (instead in categories) does not give good solution.

If I setup the price at "not allow price field" in the checkout settings, it will disaspear in all categories.

So the only reliable solution seems to setup "not allow price field" AND manage the price in the Extra Fields section AND modify listings to print the good extra-field... when needed.

According what the demo let us test, I think it is the only way to decently manage SELL, Want To Buy or Want To Trade classifieds together.

I can see a few options for this.

1. Setup the price as not required but shown. Then on categories that you want to require a price add the javascript to check that a price is entered. Then use the custom category template module and remove the price field from categories that you do not want the price.

2. Do like you mention above. Add the price as an extra field then use the custom category template module and pull the price out for those categories. This would take the developer edition.

The Solution 2 is near perfect.

I disable the generic price field and I create some 'price' extra-fields that can be required (or not), searched (or not) depending the category they are affected. It is near perfect.

Just have to modify templates to remove generic price fied and and some other fittings, but it is great
