Default Subscriptions / Recurring billing?

I don't seem to find anywhere if subscription / recurring billing is possible?

I love what I've seen so far, but this is an absolute necessity for us in order to increase sales durations.

Thanks!

This is not a built in feature of this product, however you can set up a "Renewal" email that is sent to the customer "X" number of days before the ad is to expire. X=number of days that you input.

Thanks for the response - unfortunately that's a deal breaker for us. Is there any software that you could recommend that might be a good alternative that does handle recurring? If you'd rather not post that I understand, but would appreciate it!

You can always see about finding someone that can do this modification first before you run off. I seriously doubt you'll find any classifieds software that will fit everyone of your needs.

I could do it myself, but the time to do it is the problem. In this case we need closer that to be available quickly, and I don't want to worry about adjustments to keep up with the main software upgrades/changes.

It seems to me that this would be an absolute necessity for most classified site owners, and it's unfortunate because otherwise this software looks the best to me for our needs.

This is a lot easier said than done. First of all, there all multiple payment gateways, should this be written for each one of them? Not all gateways allow for recurring payments. If anyone can do this, i take my hat off to them.

I gave myself a name, since I'm posting again...

It wouldn't have to be done for all of them, only for Paypal or 2CO or both. I don't think you have to cover all options for all users, but having the option to use Paypal as the gateway with subscriptions (recurring-billing) isn't that crazy of a thing to ask.

The point is to not look at things from a developer viewpoint, but instead from a user and manager viewpoint. But also, at least for Paypal and 2CO the subscription api is pretty well documented.

This is useful for both, and expected in everyday life now. If your classifieds offer longer term sales (such as a real estate, or ongoing job openings, or business listings) then this makes even more sense.

Being a developer, I always look at it from a developers point of view. Can it be done? How will it be done? I have read up on all the documents you have suggested and it is still extremely complicated. Once I have the fundamentals in my head on how it can be achieved, then you can look from a user or manager point of view.

Maffo, I think by "managers viewpoint" pre-sales-guy simply means that a site manager couldn't give a toss how many payment providers can supply recurring billing as long as at least one of them does.

From that 'managers viewpoint' I too would really appreciate a developer who could do the work on PayPal in order to give us this option.

We just don't need to have the work done on every payment gateway. If for example recurring billing is only available with the PayPal gateway - and if it's recurring billing that's most important to you - then as a manager you'll go with PayPal and be happy you could.
