Pre-sales Membership Question

I've been fooling around with the demo, and have a quick question about membership functionality.

I created a membership, and assigned it a newly created "premium member" user group. From the tip on the site it should mean that when someone purchases that membership, their usergroup should change automatically, but that did no happen. Is it because I forced the membership to active with the admin account, or is this not fully functional yet?

The membership functionality in version 3 was added as an afterthought. As a result, it's always been quite 'buggy'.

The memberships in version 4 have been completely revamped and seem to work much better. We're hoping to have v4 out in the next few weeks.

I made a fix a few months ago and posted on this forum.

There were several bugs with the membership system but I have gone through and completely fixed it 100%. It works like an absolute dream now.

The changed files and what has been changed is all documented here.

I would recommend all users of 3.1 to change these files over and get the full use out of the very powerful current membership system.

I also think it should be added to the current 3.15b download for the benefit.

The link you gave me had to do with multiple memberships, I described a different problem.

Just to be sure (please don't anyone take this a bad way), I am going to describe what I meant in detail.

1. Create a new user group (I called mine "Premium Member")
2. Create a new membership package. Assign it to the Premium Member user group.
3. Buy the membership package with a registered user account
4. Activate the membership with the admin account
You will see that the user is still assigned to the "Registered Users" group, even though the membership has been activated.

Is this what would be fixed in V.4? The "usergroups" tool tip in the membership creation screen led me to believe that this was a functional item.

Let me see if I can jump in and help.

Once a user places an order for the membership and it is marked as completed then they do not physically change user groups but instead during login the membership is checked and if it is valid then they are assigned to that usergroup.

This way it doesn't require multiple scheduled tasks to change usergroups once the membership expires.

I hope this makes sense.

And if you want to use memberships you should do the code changes I have said. With them the Membership system runs flawlessly, without it, it doesnt.
