I am interested in getting the hosted version, but it says it is free installation, but when you click order it says $49.95 for installation, Which is it?

Also, how much is it for domain registration, can you register .com.au domain names given you are in the us? Matt

Installation's free with the hosted version. You just get all the options in the checkout process no matter what package you're buying.

I don't think they register domains. Do that on your own, then where you manage your domain(s) you "point" your domain to the IP for your site. You should be able to register a domain for ten bucks or less per year.

So if i register my own domain, they simply install the site to that then? Is that right?

Also can I have the domain registered by 68c as a .com.au site or would I have to find another provider to have the .com.au or is the hosted version only available via 68c selection?

I couldn't find the frist 2 steps when trying to purchase the hosted version, how can I choose what the url will be or isn't that an available option?

YOU register your own domain name be it whatever you want. 68 classifieds will then rent you space for your site , part of that will include the classified section.
68 classified will tell you the nameservers or IP address where your domain is and then you put that in with your domain name.
There are 100's of domian registrar's pick one and start the ball rolling

Disco98. To register you .com.au domain, go to www.enetica.com.au based in Burwood NSW. Excellent service and facilities - we use then for all our client's .com.au domain registrations. Cost to register a .com.au is AU$69 for 2 years. Yes they are more expensive than registering a .com

You can only register a .com.au domain name if you have a 'registered' business in Australia. You will need to provide your Registered Business Number (RBN) or your Australian Business Number (ABN) or your Australian Company Number (ACN) first.

Companies like Enetica are called a 'Registrar'. You register your domain name with them. Once that is done, you then need a server to accommodate (host) your site. 68 Classifieds can provide that server for you to 'host' your site. Hence the title 'hosted version'.

.com.au domains and their web sites can be hosted on any server anywhere in the world. You are not restricted to Australia.

If you are unfamiliar with installing web sites to a web server, then I recommend the hosted version provided by 68 Classifieds.

When you purchase the hosted version, you do not need to nominate the domain name at the time of ordering. After you have made the purchase and the script is installed on the 68C servers, 68C will contact you and let you know what the 'Primary' and 'Secondary' nameservers are.

To then connect your domain name to your site, you then 'add' the names of these two nameservers to your account with eg: Enetica. (On registering your domain name, Enetica would have provided you with a username and password to allow you to do this). Once that is done, within a few hours the connection between your domain name and your site will be completed.
