Default buyin the designer or developer version?

i have been using the hosted version of 68 classifieds since september and I know that getting back to normal is gonna take a while. Eric and Blair have alot ahead of them. I dont wanna add to their list of things to do, so i am interested in purchasing the unencrypted script so i can continue to work on my site. I hate using another hosting company because i know if i have problems eric can help me out, but i know its gonna be some time before they get things straightened out. Whats the differnence in scipts and which hosting company does everyone prefer and what do they run per month?

The difference in ths scripts is that if you have the developer version you can change the actual script files and are not limited to only the template files.

As for hosting, you run the same risk everywhere you go. You as an individual have to take responsibility and make sure you are prepared in case of a distaster.

oh yeah i understand the risks of hosting anywhere, i feel that eric and blair have a bigger problem to deal with than having my site up and running. So i dont want to burden them with problems until everything as a whole is fixed. I just wanted to get my site goin again until everything was groovy.

I have both scripts, and have not yet found any difference. There are supposed to be (Ithink) 2 files that are encrypted, but have never had to use them, and I have browsed through most on the user side just to look at them in my efforts to try and understand php

Talking buyin the designer or developer version

I'm almost certain to be purchasing a version in the next week or so... I know a fair bit of php...but nothing extensive (mostly for form scripts, replies and some templates). I'd like to change the complete look of 68C (nothing against...I just have something else in mind...). Would I still be able to do this with designer? Is it still 'policy' to be able to offer the $100 difference for developer?

You have total control over the looks of the site via the stylesheet and templates with the designer version.

I cant comment on the upgrade price however, Eric or Blair will need to confirm that for you.

Hi-

The upgrade price is still $100.

I would like to point out that we're offering a free template with the purchase of the developer version which you miss out on if you go with the "designer then upgrade" route.

Thanks for your interest.
