Unhappy Search Engine Friendly URL's

Why aren't these included with the stock software? It seems some modules would really increase sales of 68 classifieds if they were just included. Heck, all of them really. I think the software is expensive enough as it is without charging extra for modules like this one.

Well, one could argue that any module or change should be free and part of the script, but sometimes features are requested and these get incorporated as extra features to spread the cost of the development.

I understand where you are coming from, in the web environment the SEO of websites is very important. However, some people might want to SEO their script differently and I'm guessing this is why it isn't built in.

How would one SEO the script differently? You mean just using different keywords in the links and such? Seems a small detail really. The only thing keeping me from the purchase of 68 is that these mods are another $30-50 each on top of the hefty $200 cost of the software. I need the dev version because I have some code change I will need to make. I suppose, I shouldn't complain because if I do get 68, I plan on trying to sell my classified ad broadcast system as a mod. Maybe the SMF usershare as well.

Yes, you are right it is a minor detail, some might want different ways of displaying the links, ie category names instead of numbers, or just a completely different way of doing the links:

instead of:
listings/new.html

they might wish to make it:
newlistings.html

instead of:
categories/9.html

maybe:
categories/9/categoryname.html

I haven't ever used SMF, but it does look better than a few others I have tried. Is it easy to skin?

Default SEO module & hosted version

Can the SEO module upgrade be used with the hosted version of 68?

Also, is there a way to include the category titles in the URL, or is it limited to the listings?

Thanks!

The SEO mod presently available will treat a category like this:
http://www.mysite.com.au/categories/34.html (34 is the category ID)
and listing like this:
http://www.mysite.com.au/listing/299...ing_Title.html
