Back after mission to Gulf Coast....
Hey Everyone!
I have been gone for over a month! Looks like I have to catch up on a lot of good stuff found at 68... Seems like it has been forever, but I was gone for a good reason...
FYI I was asked to go down to the Gulfcoast to help with the continued cleanup effort from Katrina... YES... Katrina... I have to admit I was totally blown away by the destruction still very visible ... I was in an area called Bayou La Batre, Alabama (Forest Gump was filmed there)... Gulfport, Miss., and Biloxi, Miss..... I did get to tour the 9th ward in New Orleans, but to be honest, New Orleans would have been fine had it not been for the levy break... The areas where I was stationed have been pretty much overshadowed by the New Orleans tradgedy...
Overall it is still an area needing as much help as possible...
One great need is labor... contractors are no where to be found since they are more interested in working on commercial properties where they can make more money than working on residential properties... Plus a vast majority of residents have yet to see any insurance money or FEMA funds... It is a messed up system that only complicates the recovery process...
There is no way to explain how much damage and destruction Katrina caused and how recovery has been painstakenly slow...
Well, enough said.. Just wanted to let everyone know where I have been and I look forward to upgrading and finally moving forward on my business.
