Default Select category 2 dropdowns

Hi,

Is it possible to, in the select category step, make instead of 1, 2 dropdown boxxes?
Dropdown 1 for parent, dropdown 2 for child,

Example: mijnadvertentiesite.nl

Yes, its possible but you are going to have to know php and javascript. You will need to use ph tpo query the database and populate the first dropdown with the parent fields and then javascript on the page to call another php file to query the database and get the applicable children for the parent selected in the first dropdown.

Not something easily done unless you have a decent understanding of what you are doing with php and javascript.

For a large site with lots of inventory and lots of sub-categories, this would be a welcome addition.

The problem is IE and many virus protection software packages dont like web pages pulling data and updating a page in the background.

I use Maffos search moduel on mine Buy And Sell Your New And Used Trucks, Buses And Machinery Free - TruckAndMachinery.Com.Au but it can only go one sub category deep in IE.
I personally think that it should be something built into 68c, would make it stand out from the rest but i understand why they have not because it can only go 2 deep. I beleive you ran into this problem with the cat tree module you were making larry(when using dropdowns)
