Default User to User payment??

I would like to have a way for my users to pay each other online. How would i set this up? I have been combing the forums for a couple hours and haven't found anything about this. Is it a module or something that i would need to purchase or is this something where i would need to add a shopping cart? I have no idea how this would work so any advice at all is greatly appreciated!!!

User to user payment handling is a whole different application in and of itself. Its not something included in 68C and I cant imagine it ever will be. The whole purpose of 68C is to to be a service for people to list good for sale. Its not ment to be an E-bay or an online store. Getting in the middle and handling transactions between people bring you into a whole new world of liability and PCI compliance ramifications.

Do you mean something like ebay?
If you do your just asking for trouble, if someone doesnt get their item who's door will they be knocking on.

Default Ok, that makes sense

These people come to me looking for stuff all of the time anyway, but my real job is at the post office so that would be why!!! If i wanted to do something like that how would i go about it though? I mean, the way i am trying to have my site work is the classifieds adds but it is also servicing people around the world so how would i allow them to pay each other on line? Maybe like ebay, or amazon or whatever, but i am unsure how to even research this more? if you guys have any more ideas and input please let me know.

I was just thinking, all of my users have pay pal, for the most part anyway, is there a way i could set it up so that they would be able to select an option when they post an add that would allow someone to pay them via paypal so nobody would have to physically drop a check in the mail? or would that still make me a middle man?

There is no easy way to integrate user to user payments. When you start allowing users to buy from each other how do you prevent 2 users from buying the same thing at the same time? The answer is you then have to manage inventory as well and once again this just is NOT what 68C is designed to do.

As much as I like 68C if your looking to be an online store then you should look for an online store. As mentioned 68C is classified software.

I suggest searching for shopping cart or online storre scripts that can service multiple vendors and inventory.

and even if you did implement a "buy now" paypal button how do you prevent a couple people from buying the same item?

huh, i hadn't thought of the multiple purchase thing, that is a good point. I guess i figured once somebody hit the button that the new script would take care of the "inventory" on its own. so, any good ideas on how people can pay each other or is this one of those things where it is going to have to be a check in the mail or something?

As I mentioned you can look into some sort of online shopping cart that supports multiple vendors (ie users selling stuff). There is no easy way to implement this within 68C.

Why cant the interested party simply contact the seller, find out if the item is still available and if so the buyer and seller can come to an agreement on how payment is to be made. If the seller says "just paypal me the cost, here is my e-mail addy to paypal to" then the deal is done. There doesnt have to b any check in the mail and you dont have to gt involved. Personally I have no idea why anyone would want to even get in the middle of a buyer and seller, it opens you up to a whole new world of liability.

I agree with Larry in general. However, you can (I think I did it for an experiment) put a paypal button within the body of an advert. The user can then put their own paypal button. I cannot remember when I did this but I did do it to see if was possible. You may have to permit certain html code in admin control panel and that of course opens a whole set of other issues if people start running html/javascript in their adverts.
