Default checkout: extra fields don't hold value @ step 4 back to step 3

Is there any way to get extra fields to retain their value? When you click back to step 3 from step 4 in the checkout process, all the extra fields show nothing, while the standard fields (title, price, etc.) retain their values.

Dont use the back button, use the breadcrumb of steps if you need to return to a previous step.

Yes this is how it id designed. The reason is because at that point they can still change the category and if they do that then the extra fields can be different.

Ok, I can accept that. I got a little myopic looking at my own projects. Didn't see the bigger picture.
