Maffo Modules to be REMOVED from shop

Hi everybody,

After having a hectic few months working with many clients and cracking on with the super mod v4 I have taken an executive decision to remove my modules from my online shop.

From 1st October 2008 only the Bulk Upload System will be available for purchase with support from my store.

I will be halving the price of all v3.1 modules from 1st October 2008 but will not offer the v3.1 modules with any support.

The Location System, Checkout System, Search Plugin & Maffo News Mod will ALL BE WITHDRAWN and you will no longer be able to purchase them.

These modules will only be available exlcusivley as part of the Super Mod V4 framework.

The retail of the Super Mod will be �100gbp for the Beta Version and �150gbp for the Alpha version (see below). Any customer purchasing the Beta will get any upgraded files from the alpha version upon their release.

Any customer who has purchased software from my shop within the last 12 months will have the entire amount of that order deducted from the retail price of the super mod. Basically the more modules you have purchased, the cheaper the Super Mod v4 will be.

Customers who purchased the Super Mod v3 will be entitled to a free copy of Super Mod v4 although this will come with no support.

These discounts count for purchased modules only and do not apply to customers who have had custom modules or modifications made.

To run Super Mod v4 you will require a 68 Classifieds V4 Developers Edition Licence which is your responsibilty to purchase.

I will be also writing an upgrade package for users who already run v4 so your existing site should be compatible with Super Mod v4. (subject to any modifications you have made)

The Super Mod will be available beta testing on October 1st and is NOT suitable for a LIVE SITE. Hopefully the Alpha should be ready within 4-6 weeks.

I am pretty much happy with the core of the system but I am still making tweaks, however I am converting a lot of the 68 Classifieds v4 'default' template to more suit this system.

The super mod v4 will include an XHTML 1.1 strict layout with all custom plugins also being compliant.

A full feature list of the super mod v4 will be posted in the very near future.

This system is really gonna blow your socks off.

Good question and its all down to the amount of time I have to manage, maintain and support the modules.

The modules I have made retail at a really low price compared to the amount of programming effort I have to put in, that doesnt include writing out the in depth installation guides and usage guides, setting up demos, high maintenance customers etc. Basically its just not worth it to me any more.

All of my modules have been re-written to fit this new Super Mod v4, for example, this system has multi-siting, sub-siting, localisation and has all been SEO'd with these things in mind. Therefore my news module needs to be able to be multi-sited, sub-sited, localised and also SEO'd to suit the Super Mod v4 system.

I only wish to run one version of my modules, and by removing the old ones, I can put more effort into the new ones which in turn can only benefit any clients that come on board with this system. Those who dont, wont really be my problem im afraid.

Ok, ill put in my 2 cents.
I think you should keep selling the mods seperate as well, but make them more expencive and give no support.
Some people are not going to spend several $100 for on module.
Just my opinion though.

Hi Nick, I appreciate your thoughts but I simply cant sell mods without support. The v4 modules are using AJAX and I cant expect your average Joe to be able to figure out any issues by themselves. It gets very complex in there.

I understand that some people wont want to spend the type of money I am asking for the Super Mod v4. Im sure genuine businesses, once they have seen this system in operation, will have no qualms in paying �150gbp

Also your search plugin isnt in the demo.
