Default Package Prices module

Greetings,

I am considering working on a new module for sale called Package Prices. I would like to find out if this is something that there is any true interest in before putting in the development time and effort to create it. Please vote in the poll with your opinion.

The Pricing module would allow a site owner to offer the following:
Site visitors to view the available listing packages that you have to offer for posting classified ads.
The listings would be viewable in two formats:
1) By category. This would show the Parent category and each subcategory within showing the listing package, List price, Price, description, duration, number of description characters allowed, upgrades available w/prices (bold, highlighted, featured) and if there are additional fields for that package (extra fields).

2) By Package. This would show the individual Package information as described above and then a categories list of the available categories/subcategories that the package can be used in.

Thanks in advance for your opinions and/or any suggestions and comments by replying in this thread.

-Mike

Default Clarification for this module

I wanted to add some clarification as to why or what this module is for.

It seems that there are many people who end up abandoning their listings (incomplete listings). There may be several reasons why, however I believe that one of the main reasons is that the end user has no way of knowing what the price is to place their listing.

There is nothing built into the 68 Classifieds script that allows you to show your potential customers what your prices are, let alone what is available for any given category except to start a listing until they can see the package listings. Even then, it is limited to only the listing packages available to the specific category that they chose. In addition it still only shows you the Package listing name, Description, List Price and Price.

This module will allow you to have a clickable link that will automatically generate a complete list of all of your listing packages, including the additional information about the packages and what categories the listing is allowed to be placed in.

I manually created a price list on my site and over 60% of my visitors clicked on the link. Of those visitors 48% clicked on the printable version. That tells me that this is very important for end users to have this information. In addition, my abandonment rate dropped substantially.

Ive always outlined ad pricing using the extra pages that you create from within admin. If you only have a couple packages you can also outline them by editing you main page so the pricing is right there when someone visits the site.

I'm interested, but I don't need it as bad as others would. It would depend how it works..

That is certainly one way that it could be done and is exactly how I currently have it done on my site here. Clearly that would be for those that don't have very many packages. Given the fact that the more packages that you offer the harder it would be to make and the fact that it would have to be updated each time that you added a new package. It would also not have the option of listing the packages in different formats (e.g. by listing or by category). It is after making this a few times by hand that made me come up with this module idea in the first place.

One other thing that I've noticed from now visiting so many 68 users sites over the past year and a half is that I believe many folks have a tendency to overlook the power of having many different packages adds for the end users.

One example is that I rarely see folks offering several of the same package with different duration. For example, a single photo ad with 500 characters of text for 7 days. Why not offer the same package for 14 days, 30 days, 90 days and a year. The longer durations appeal to sellers that are always selling the same item all the time (think eBay sellers on your site). This works especially well for Real estate categories. This doesn't cost you anything except for your time to create the new package, yet offers much greater flexibility to your sellers.

Thanks for your comments!

-Mike
