I can understand your desire to make it easy for people but its a double edged sword and you have to understand that requiring registration protects you, potential clients and even strangers.
Which is why l am looking for a simple solution whereby they input their email address and are part of our newsletter.

You seem to be missing the point totally.

And as a competitor of yours I grab random mail addresses and input their mail address into the newsletter form. Creating a whole bunch of extra mail you have to serve as well as pissing a lot of people off at you because they personally didnt put themselves on your list. They get you black listed and perhaps files complaints with your ISP so they drop you.

Thanks lhotch, l do understand your point and appreciate your comments. I am considering narrowing down the registration details to see if this works. I am slightly concerned that based on your statement the majority of the internet and the companies that reside on it are running their newsletter signup completely wrong which includes the likes of CNET, Amazon and so forth.
As my market is fairly niche, my competitors would not waste their time in such activites as l wouldnt on their site. In time when my service increases and l am driving more traffic then l will have to deal with this issue in the best way l can.

Overal, it appears that there is no easy way to integrate the facility to just allow individuals to add their email address to the newsletter, therefore my only option is to install a separate newsletter program or to cut down the registration form and force users to complete a full registration.
If anyone has an alternative then l would appreciate the feedback.

Regards,
Luke

Luke,

This newsletter module is set to work only off the user registration. However there are other newsletter scripts that are a lot more powerful than this, that could be installed on your site.

It doesnt have to be a competitor it can be some bored script kiddie. My point is you should strive to become part of the spam solution not part of the spam problem.

Most places that allow you to register for a newsletter without registering require you to send mail from your own e-mail account. This ensures that mail is delivered to someone who requested it. Simply filling in a web form doesnt allow for any authentication.

Default Not regenerating

I extracted and uploaded the newsletter file/module to the modules folder, but when I click regenerate it does not list the newsletter module. When I look at the remote view of the folder it looks like it is setup right. What might be wrong?

Thank you!
