Default Postal Codes Module

Hi Mike,

I have a few questions about his module, first when you say that the member enters his postal code in the checkout, does this mean the user has to always enter his postal code every time he creates an ad and wants to enable postal code searching?

Or does it take his default postal code that he entered when he registered for the first time.

Last question is does this module come with a language pack, because some of the things such as when the user needs to decide the distance of certain ads? I will need to change ''any distance'' to something else.

Thanks.

Yes, the user would need to input the postal code for the ad. It is done this way for a number of reasons. To enable the end user to enter a code that is different than their personal Postal Code (Think Real Estate). Also depending on the country the Postal Code data set may not be the complete code (e.g. UK and Canada).

It does NOT have a language pack, however there are so few text labels it should be quite easy to change what ever you would need to and I could of course offer help to exactly where/what you would need to change.

Okay, thanks for the information, I am still getting my budget together but this is something that I will eventually add to my site.

I have another question on this module, how is the search done when it coems to postal codes, because basically some postal codes are searched differently.

1st example:

H9H3A3

2nd example:

H9H 3A3

Will both of these inputs work for the searches? The users also add their postal code either way in their profile as well, which is where I imagine the postal code is picked up from. Will the search still be able to be done correctly?

Thanks.

I think that you are having some trouble reading or absorbing the answers and information that have already been posted.

You're examples look like they are Canadian Postal Codes. As I've already stated in a previous reply:

Any country that does NOT use the complete Postal Code is documented and additional text explanation is added to the Postal Code input field to avoid end user confusion.

Again, as posted in answer to your original post/question:

I hope this clears up any confusion for you. I don't really know how to give you any more definitive answers or explain this any more clearly. Also bear in mind that I am not the "Postal Service" for any country. This module just attempts to use the rules as given by the Postal Authority within a given region and make it work. What do you want for a mere $30.
