Default Need help!!!! Stuck on install

during the set up process im getting the following error.

Site error: the file /home/content/15/5076415/html/includes/classes/database/mysql.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.

it is very frustrating to waste time on issues like this...

ioncube seems to be installed as per the 68Class install instructions.

I just downloaded the from the site, so id guess i have the latest version.

Some hosts have specific instructions for ioncube, have you checked with your host to see if there is something special that needs to be done?

well, I did have ioncube installed for a previous application. and I had successfully ran a previous version of 68Class from my server.

i'll check their help pages once again, but if i remember correctly, there was nothing special to be done.

Its godaddy lixux php5.x...

nothing dificult... just create php5.ini file with the code for ioncube, upload it and thats it.

Is this new 68c installation over the top of an old 68c installation or in new folder?

did you upload the ioncube folder and its contents along with 68C?

GoDaddy does indeed have SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS in order for you to be able to run ioncube. You will need to follow their instructions to create a php5.ini file for ioncube to work on their servers.

got it all running nice and smooth... it was a problem with the database... i attempted to run the install on a database that was still pending backup... (my over sight)

Im new to the forum (as you might already know) and have noticed that you two are very active and offer extremely good assistance. I want to thank you in advance for any future support i know i'll be getting from both of you.

Quick 3 questions...

is there any way I can have the subcategories show under the main categories on the front page (instead of, for instance, the category description)?

if I have a excel database full of listings (ads) from a previous project... is there anyway I can upload the data into my database to include in my site? if so, what format should i use to upload? just .CSV maybe?

I know it is somewhere around the forum but i couldn't find it... its 2:30 AM where im at and cant go any further....
which php or template can I comment out the second navigation menu on the left hand side of the default template.

Hope you have a great weekend.

If you mean in the 68c template it is in the layout.tpl (search for <!-- // Left Side // -->)
and i would assume that the deepsea one would be the same but i have never used it myself.

thanks Bowers, i was able to get the lower left menu out of the picture.

I still need to display the subcats in the front page. i'll work on this today and update.

I also need details on uploading database content. If anyone else can suggest anything,it would be greatly appreciated.

basically what i am trying to do is import listings(ads) from a previous classified project up into my 68C site.

There is no shortcut for this process. You have 2 choices and both are labor intensive.

Re enter all of your ads or automate the process. The task of automating it however can be more time consuming than manual entry however depending on your ability to code, database knowledge and understanding of 68C.

This is not simply a case of having a flat file (ie *.csv) and changing the order of fields etc and putting it in a database.

For 68C there are ad packages which define the rules for ads placed. There are users which tie into the ads themselves. There are categories, which can have extra fields unique to them and then there are orders associated with each ad as well.

So, in order to create an import you have to take into account how your site is setup and what fields and info is in the file to be imported. Then manually code and account for all the differences, sorting, ID's that link the various tables etc etc.

Even if there was an automated application to handle this sort of thing it would need to be "configured" so to speak which would require a solid understanding of how the source and destination tables tie into each other and frankly put very few people here have that knowledge so a tool of that nature would create more problems than it answers.

Personally I think the best way to do something like this is to contact your existing clients, sending them a coupon for as many free ads as they currently have running on your site now and tell them your upgrading sites and ask them to move their ads over themselves.
