Good Morning,
I STILL haven't been able to do anything with this template. I have been reading the tutorial, and it keeps going to a tools page (layout) where shapes and colors can be made for the header. Where is this page? ALL I can get is the template editor in administration, and this page is not listed in there. What am I missing? I know I could do this if I could just get to the page. Thanks Ava |

Ava, as I mentioned at the beginning of the tutorial, I used an application called Photoshop. Photoshop is an image editing/creation software package totally seperate from 68classifieds. Its pretty much the industry standard for creating and editing digital images and as such it can be very complex to use and its not cheap. Its made by adobe (ie adobe.com) and isnt part of 68classifieds.

I personally prefer another graphics program owned by Adobe, Fireworks 8. I found the learning curve less steep and the interface a little more simple. It is also a fraction of the cost of photoshop and I have yet to need something that couldn't be done in fireworks.
The cost of these programs is still enormous, I found that since I am in school the education versions make it a bit more affordable. I think studio 8 was around $300 with the education version, which included flash 8, dreamweaver 8, fireworks 8, and cold fusion. Here is a link for any of y'all that are in school for the education versions of both. http://store.adobe.com/store/product...d=catStudioEDU Another graphics program I used a while back was jasc paint shop and animation shop. I see they are now owned by Corel. It is a bit cheaper but it was very good in 2002 when I used it. I would like to assume it is far better now. I am afraid I am not financially able to purchase expensive software. If I would have known that other software needed to be bought before you could edit the template, I would have waited a little longer before buying the classifieds, and I could have been better prepared. Soooo, my next question is, will the paint shop in Windows XP help me at all? I have built a lot of stuff in their for my other website. http://www.Noni4UrPony.com
If not, my only other option is to see if any of you out there would be interested in editing my template for me for a reasonable sum. I really don't need much. Color change, header and maybe a couple more places to put featured ads. If you are interested, you can email me at [email protected]. Thanks for your help Ava |

Paint should be just fine for basic images and etc. We are just suggesting what we use, these are by no means necessary for basic template changes.

I have a full editing suite on pc and it hasnt cost me a penny.
I use PHP Designer for my coding. Fantastic piece of kit. I use a fantastic graphics package called 'the Gimp' for extremely high end graphics. It is not as easy to use as photoshop or fireworks but I find the end results a whole lot better.

OK, if I can use paint, I'm in business. I know my way backward and forward in there. Now, how do I go about changing the colors and layout of my template from paint? If I could just get my colors changed and my header up and going, I would be much happier.

Open style.css and change the colors from there. Most all of the colors within the 68 classifieds are assigned within the style sheet. To edit the main layout, you have to edit the file templates/default/layout.tpl.php with notepad or other editor.

Thanks for the info. I have played around with the colors in the css file, but only one color changed. Even that color took 2 days to change. I thought maybe that wasn't how I was supposed to do it. I'll try again.
