Arrow Change <TITLE> tags

Hi everyone,

I could do with a bit more help (yet again) in the TITLE tag of my website it comes up with my website name, and as you go in to the categories they appear there which is what I want.

However, is it possible to put a breif 8 - 9 word description about the website in the <TITLE>{$sitename} and a bit about my site </TITLE>
along with the website name, but then the description is removed once you start to access the categories as the category listings appear in the title tags in the description place?

At the present time I have my website site name and a description within the title tages, but the description side does not disappear when I access the categories.

here's what I mean in the TITLE tag

mywebsitename.com - a bit about my website (then click one of the categories and it changes to)

mywebsitename.com >> category name

I assume I need a form of script or something ??? hope you or anyone understands what im on about

Any ideas please ??

Jason

Jason,

Of course just about anything is possible, however I would warn you that adding description to the title tag element goes against the purpose of the tag. Because of this, adding description can sometimes result in adverse affects with the search engines, because it would be considered spamming. In addition, the title tag is meant to simply be the title of the page that shows in the top of the browser window. When you start adding text to the title it may not be able to display all of the text depending on the size of the browser window.

Jason, try searching on discussions about this subject in the forum. It is quite involved with many subtleties. It is not just a programming issue. There are many posts that will help you and give you advice on SEO for example and how to define and manipulate title tags and meta descriptions.

Too many to list here.
