Hi,
I suggest you download wamp server, its like a local webhost. So you dont have to constantly upload files for testing. Nick

The items within a template that are within curly brackest are smarty variables. In other words those are place holders for dynamic data that comes from the database or plugins. To maintian the existing site functionality its a good idea to keep those all in tact.
My personal opinion is that there is no substitute for learning a little html and CSS. Dreamweaver is not designed to replace that knowledge its designed as a too, to speed creation and far too may use it as a crutch. I recommend you download firefox browser and the firebug plugin. This will allow you to click on any section of your web page when viewing it in the firefox browser and see the exact html/css that makes up that item. You can even edit it in memory to see how it will change the site.
