Many Thanks for the previous advise, I will look forward to getting my teeth into it.
Look at the standard template there may not be any room for sponsors adverts down one side, will I have to edit the coding for this? If so does any one know how to script it, or where I can find it. Also I may want one on the bottom and top, as this is one way I want to get some revenue back. As in Valleywantads, website. Greg have you any tips for a beginner. Could any one recommend any books on HTML, to help with website layouts and designs. Many Thanks |

Just open up your favorite search site and search for it. You'll get html advice, tutorials, etc. out the .... um... till your hearts content. As far as the ads go, you may want to consider going with a 3 column view and put the ads in the added right hand side column. I use phpadsnew (Now openads) and it is an an opensource (Freely downloadable unde the GPL license). All you would need to do is generate the code from the openads generator and put it in the table cell where you would like it to be placed. You'll need to read their documentation, but it is pretty straight forward and easy to use. -Mike

Hi JJ!
I use AdPeeps for my ad management. I found it integrated with 68 very easily, and lets me set up different zones to target different categories simply by adding the Smarty variable to the banner code. The other thing I like is that it has its own commerce system for selling ads without me doing anything. It includes payment through paypal, 2CO and others. It supports banners, text ads, rich media, and flash. As you can see, I can run multiple zones on one page without any problems. It's not free, but I do know that right now it's on sale for only $45. I paid $79, and now it's up to $99. To me, worth every penny. (free trial too) I used phpadsnew previously. Nothing wrong with it, I just feel that AdPeeps was cleaner, easier, and integrated with 68 much easier. OK, enough with the sales pitch. (by the way... I get no compensation for it, I just love to turn fellow webmasters on to a good thing). No real code to learn JJ. I just plugged the AdPeeps generated code into the 68 templates where I wanted it. The templates are commented very well, so you can see rather easily where to put the code. Of course, we're all here to guide you if you need it. I second Mike's recommendation to use the web for learning. There are thousands of forums out there where everyone shares their knowledge and you can learn quickly. If you want more structured learning, go to VTC.com. They are the guys that produce training DVDs for 100s of software titles. The DVD are not cheap, but you can view unlimited videos in streaming format for just $30 a month. Very good instructors, too.
