Default Creating a custom results page

Hey all.

I am hoping to filter 1-2 particular categories to show not up on the New Listings page.

I would also like to create a duplicate new listings page which only brings up these 1-2 categories.

Could this be done? I am not too sure of which particular files to edit

Something close is to use the location filter module. However to truly meet your requirement, it is necessary to do some custom coding. The existing template will need to be modified to test for those categories to be excluded and only when it is a newlistings script. Likewise a new core file and another template file will also be needed to show just those results and the link added into your template. I sent a PM with more details.

Fortunately you have the templatecodes module and some of the functionality it supplies is going to make it easier to do this.

Is it possible someone may be able to suggest where I may need to edit the Listings results to remove a particular category from being visible?

I may not be able to currently afford to pay someone to make these changes for me, a bit of guidance would go a long way

I think you are asking a bit much and that is why you have not had a good reply. Its a custom piece of work that is going to take a little while to work out exactly how best to do it. Not just the filtering out but replacing listings from the excluded categories. with good ones.

You are right there is definitely quite a bit involved. Is there a call to the SQL that I could put a Where clause on the P.Section to apply to every category except this one?

FOR RESULTS IN THE LISTING

Like "$sql Select from Listings Where P.Section Does Not Equal the Unwanted Category.

Just having trouble finding which area in the Listing.

I would then allow Search to pickup these listings but not the New Listings section.

I can't seem to get any access to the New Listings SQL result, which I would think is in the Listings.php file

Open includes/classes/kernel/Listings.php and look for the getAllListings() method. You can hard code it in there not to return specific categories. I can't recommend editing the core files because it will ultimately make it more difficult for you to upgrade.
