Updating from the Designer Edition to the Developer Edition

These instructions will step you through how to go from the Designer Edition to the Developer Edition.

Step 1. Purchase the Developer Edition

Visit 68 Classifieds member area and purchase the Developer Edition. Because you are already a customer you will get a discount on the purchase.

Step 2. Download your new files

You will need to login to 68 Classifieds member section to download the latest Developer release. Once you are logged and are at the download page you should see two different versions. One labeled install and one labeled upgrade.

You will want to download the one labeled upgrade. Although both releases are the same the upgrade version leaves out the connections/classifieds.php file to prevent you from overwriting your original.

Step 3. Upload your new files

You will need to open your FTP program and connect to your server where you have 68 Classifieds installed.

Now upload all the new files from the Zip you downloaded. This could take a little while but be sure all the old files are overwritten with the new ones.

Step 4. Run the upgrade

After all the new files have been uploaded visit http://www.yoursite.com/setup/ and follow the upgrade steps. It will ask you what version you are upgrading from that way the correct database changes are made.

The final step after upgrading will be to COMPLETELY DELETE THE ENTIRE 'SETUP' DIRECTORY. If this is not done, your site will not work correctly.

Step 5. Change the license key

After you have ran the upgrade and uploaded all the files you will need to change the license key.

In order to do this you should open the connections/classifieds.php file off the server and locate the area that looks like this:

define("LICENSEKEY", "your-key-here");

Replace your-key-here with your new license key.

After you have made the change, save the file, and upload it to the server.

Please Note: The connections/classifieds.php file contains your database connection values so download the one from the server before making this change.
