Default Craigs List

Hi all,

I'm hoping to use 68 Classifieds to setup a site for community classifieds that resembles Craig's List. Basically, I want lots of text links and a simple, simple layout. Is anyone out there using 68C is this way? Any insight on how easy/difficult this would be to setup?

Thanks, Dustin

When you say resemble do you mean resemble in terms of the community layout or actual looks?

Personally I avoid craigs list like the plague, its the ugliest peice of scripting I have ever had the displeasure of looking at. I would also wager that its success isnt due to its visual appearance at all so if your goal is to make another craigs list and just have it "take off" I think you will be dissapointed.

Most of the colors, table borders and layout is handled in a style sheet in 68C, if you use firefox with one of the web plugins you should be able to view the CSS while looking at a live 68c site and play with it to get it "dumbed down" to a craigs list level if thats what your goal is.

Default Thanks!

Thanks, Larry. I'm really just looking for something simple. I want to minimize the number of clicks people need to place an ad, and the time it takes to find listings. I mention Craig's List because they offer a great customer experience - not real pretty, but certain effective.

If you wanted to, you could design a layout like craigslist very easily.

I've already posted this question on another thread.

Can 68C v3/v4 have a location filter used for browsing/searching ads (just like craigslist)?

in V3, In the search page you can select locations but there isnt a global filter thats stored for each user. For example if a site is world wide a user cant set it to only show US ads in their state. You would have to modify the code or make use of a custom module for that.

Anyway, another way you can look at it is how are you going to set up your categories? Are you going to just build categories for classifieds based on whats in the ad? Or you can create categories that are states or cities and in each of them have subcategories that hold different types of items so navigating a categoy would auto filter the location.

My classified software comes with a location filter

I can also add it to an existing site, but its a lot of work and it doesnt come cheap!
