Happy Birthday, Chaslie...

Here in North Carolina, there's no wrong time of year for barbeque!!
I'm sure it's the same right across the border in South Carolina as well.

Barbeque is a sensitive issue here in North Carolina!! Everybody thinks theirs is the best.

If you ever make it up here, I'll take you to the best BBQ place in the world!! (and whattaya know - it's in my hometown)

Man, you have just enlightened me. In Australia, we just don't have anything like this .... http://www.ncbbqsociety.com/trail_map.html

Down under, when we talk about a B-B-Q, it's solely one of these things ....

.... that you have on your patio or deck and is generally used over summer and on which you cook up steaks, chops, sausages (bangers), onions, tomatoes and eggs.

You also pour on your tucker plenty of this ...

.... continued

... and drink plenty of this ...

or this ....

.... and if you are real keen to have a 'bar-b' over winter, then you also have one of these ....

It's the same over here in the states. About 90% of the U.S. considers "barbeque" something like "a meal that involves grilling the meat".

In the southeast (and more specifically the carolinas), when you say "barbeque", you're referring to the meat itself - and the meat is pork - either sliced or chopped. The sauce is vinegar based, (in western NC) the slaw is ketchup based and served with a side order of "hush puppies"...

Dang, I'm getting hungry.....
Maybe for lunch, I'll go to a local barbeque restaurant, order a bbq sandwich and have them serve it with a candle in it.

I'll be eating alone since Eric's out with a broken arm and my wife's out of town. There I'll be singing "Happy Birthday" to a fellow in Australia with a candle in a bbq sandwich all by myself....
I'll be asked to leave for sure.
