Can preview the site as I make changes without going live?

If your site is set offline in admin the only way to view it that I am aware of is to put it online again which of course means its viewable by everyone.

What most of us do is work on the site templates and such locally or installed somewhere not available to the public and then when ready to take the site live we move the site, to its permanent home.

You can also install it in a password protected directory.

Some servers are set up to serve index.html files first. Try placing an index.html file in your site root and visit www.yoursite.com If the index.php file is still being served even though index.html has been placed in the site root, rename it to index2.php (for example).

When you want to take a look at your changes, visit www.yoursite.com/index.php (or index2.php)

Default Classifieds to home page - 11-09-2006, 08:50 AM

I got classifieds installed in a folder not in the root.
After the creative part is done I got a problem with moving classifieds to the root.
Moving the index.php to the root came up with the the following error message:

Site error: the file /home/public_html/index.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so to be installed by the site administrator.

But the ionCube is installed and works perfect within the folder.
Do I need to move any other files as well? Or all of them ?

There is no other index file so I am a bit confused.
What am I missing?
Any hints?

Cheers

Harry

Be sure you move all files into the new directory and change your site path in the administration area or via phpmyadmin if it isn't accessable.

Did you just move index.php to the root? You need to copy the whole site to the root, not just the index file. Also, when you move a site you need to update the "site URL" field in admin. You can also update the field in the database manually.

Yes indeed I only moved the index.php.
But its done now thanks.
While I got your guys online. I saw a page in this forum where the ads got somehow published in Google base. I thought this is quite a interesting gimmick but with my php knowledge I may not be able to set this up.
Is there a possibility that I get that done by one of you guys?
If so please let me know and what's involved($) .

Cheers

Harry
