Exactly Calaf,

All these people spending on these high end machines with Quad Core Processors AGP*16, 4GB of overclocked pc999mhz ddr 3 memory and 8 pci express graphics cards.

I was considering buying an Imac but the goddam prices are so high here in argentina see www.macstation.com.ar a complete and utter rip-off. They dont show this on their new advertising campaign. Thrice the price, a third of the quality over here, but they come across like apple is of the people and microsoft is the devil. Microsoft is the devil but apple arent any better.

I am wanting to install teamaker pro on my system. What spec do I need?

Did you check out their developer discount? You can spend a little for one year and then use the developer store and see what the discount would be. Of course since I am a student, it only cost $99, I'm not sure what the regular cost is. I think the savings was close to $500 or more.

The prices are still outlandish, they dont have the latest models and they are really expensive. What really annoys me is that I live directly across the road from the only apple store in argentina, what are the odds?

I need to get me one of those. Although with a tap of Guiness near by I might start typing slurred.

I know none of you really want to get me going on the "Apple Evangelist" mode of thought...

I do however want to address the folklore of "Those Macintoshes are just way too expensive!" myth.

Back in the day, that was most definitely true. That was then and this is now. When I hear statements such as this (and many, many other folklore regarding Macs) it really makes me laugh, because they are not in line with truth. Someone hasn't actually done their homework.

First one must bear in mind that you CAN NOT compare an apple to a grape (no pun intended). You get what you pay for. You can not compare a $500 entry level Dell to anything that Apple even makes. (I wasn't even aware that intel still even made Pentium 4's). That's like saying, Caddilacs are way too expensive, because I can buy a Hyundai for $8,999. Yes, they are both cars, but do they have the same feature set? Not even close.

An entry level iMac from Apple is $999. That is an Intel Duo Core2 1.83GHz processor. So, in the case of a Dell You would need to first find a unit that has the equivalent processor.

Wow, those start at $999. Now, I won't go into all of the specs, but I will say that it doesn't include built in Firewire, wireless G, camera, microphone or built in support for an additional monitor. The only software it includes besides the very much needed Security software (Because it runs Windows) with licenses that you have to pay for to keep current.

Apple includes the iLife suite and an OS that doesn't REQUIRE additional security software. You can't even compare the iLife suite to any Windows software, because there isn't anything equivalent to it out there as far as the ease of use and interoperability. There's also something to be said for the overall look of a big black tower computer sitting on or under your desk to the look of the iMac as well, but you can't put a dollar sign on that.

If you want to talk High end like the MacPro... Now, where is that Dell Quad processor machine??? Oh yea, those start at $5,399. But they have security software too!

Just my $0.02 or what is that is Euros?

No, I don't want to start a flame war. No, I'm not familiar with pricing and/or availability of anything in Argentina.

Ok mack, I understand this but my comment was about the hiked prices the idiots at apple have put on their machines over here making them impossible to buy. The people here dont have a lot of money so apple charge 3 times as much money for old pieces of kit.

At the end of the day it is always a corporations job to squeeze money out of people who havent got it.
