If I set up a test site on an account that has a live site on it (in something like public_html/test) will it read from a seperate database, or will the connections have to be the same as the live site.

I am going to start loading one, and as it will take ages to get all the categories etc set up I would like to put it somewhere now, and do a few at a time, so that when I am ready to start working on it I am already partly preloaded. Obviously I do not want it on the same db, as I will copy the db across when its ready to go live.

Just install your test site as you would you live site. You can either make a different database or use a different table prefix.

Thanks, thats great I just did not want to make a mess of the connections while I did it
