That would be fantastic. Please advise when you can.

Haven't found those files. Some early trials, but can't make head or tails of them. Currently I'm working on a standalone app for bulk upload to the database. I'll keep you posted.

Any progress on this ?

Anyone had any success with exporting / importing at least some data.

I have a potential client who 'must have' a feature like this. Its a deal breaker.

I feel it must be quite do-able to extract at least some data from a database of a clients products and import it. Even if it is just Category, Name and Price, then the rest could be added manually ? There will be no extra fields other than the ones that come with 68classifieds.

I am looking at 5 or more sites/licenses for different countries, but without some sort of import capabilities I could lose this potentially huge job.

After reading some threads on this subject and seems that there is always going to be some manual aspect to it due to the many variables in the different databases.

I guess it comes down to the format , quality and layout of data in customers product databases.

More than willing to pay for a customised solution to this if it is available.

What format would you be getting the data in?

Greg, I love the frontpage layout of your categories! Is that a custom page you've included into layout.tpl.php or a manipulation of category.php. Especially like the alternate background colors.

Care to share how you did all this?

I just do an export in phpmyadmin as a CSV for excel. I make a copy and blank out the data and add my own in. I use FileMaker Pro to import the data including the first row as fields. Then I export it from FileMaker using anything but comma separated values. FileMaker which actually exports things correctly including the quotes around the data for each field value.

For the actual ad listings, you would need to use the "class_products" table.

I did this to set up all of my categories and subcategories as well as some intial test listings during development of my site. I actually did a complete export of the entire db after installation. The only glitch I had was the Pages and some of the email templates if I'm remembering correctly.

Hi all

We have a successfull importer into 68 classifieds, it is still on beta test and still needs some changes to 68 classifieds, the main one is images. At the moment it ads images to the description and not the main image files. This will be fixed early next week.

Due to timeouts with php etc, we wrote a standalone windows app, that links directly into the database and fills in the relevant fields.

Because of all the different feed formats we designed a field mapper front end. You load the feed in and map them to the relevant fields.

The first test imported 3000 ads in just under 3 minutes

like I said we are still in the testing phase, but so far very good
