Default Using Extra user registration info - 10-26-2006, 02:20 PM

On the user registration page there are three extra fields that can be defined by the administrator. Are these fields just for reference by the admin.?

I can't find anywhere that they are displayed to the user. Is there any way the information in the extra fields can be used? I would like to use the first one to collect the name of the users business and display it in the users ads. Is that possible?

Yes there is a bit of coding required here and there for this.

What are the 3 fields you wish to add? Then we can show you the additional code you can include in 'viewlisting'.

You can use the info provided here to display the info in the extra fields for registration:

I want to use the extra user registration fields for businesses (auto dealers) only. I want to use the extra user registration fields so the business does not have to enter it into an extra field in the listing details page each time and having their name at the top of each listing would give the ads a professional touch.

The fields would be:
Business Name:
Business Phone:
Business Address:
(It would be nice if all three extra fields were together at the top of the user registration page. Is that possible with the designer edition?)

I want the three extra fields to be at the beginning of the view listing page, only if they were filled in when registering. I would also use the extra fields as doc1975 suggests, in a Business listing page.

I'm going to try to use the code provided by juven14 but I will have some questions that I will ask in the thread started here: http://www.68classifieds.com/forums/...ead.php?t=1677

Thanks for your help!

Default Can this be done? - 03-06-2007, 05:47 PM

I would like to use one of the extra Registration Fields at the top of each listing in viewlisting2.tpl.php. I have a field at Registration which allows the user to define a name for their company/organization and I would like it to replace the name of the seller (username).

I have modified my script to be used for a camp directory and listing the school running the camp is a necessity. I have been able to add the field to my showlisting.tpl.php file, but cannot figure out how to get it in viewlisting.php.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. FYI, I have the 3.1.5 developer edition.
