Default Developer or Designer Edition? - 09-24-2006, 07:54 PM

In the last few weeks I believe I have looked at most every classifieds script on the internet and have decided on 68Classifieds. I'ts great. Now I'm trying to decide if I should purchase the developer or designer edition. Price is a consideration but not at the expense of shooting myself in the foot to save a few dollars.

I believe the designer package will do what I want in making a site that will look nice by using the template system and the english language definitions. But I also want the script to be flexable enough to be able to use mods and changes that are needed to make a very user friendly site, and make a site the will be easy to add advertisements such as banners etc.

I am concerned however about making changes to the code in either package that would make it hard to maintain or upgrade the site. I hate to get into a situation where you dread upgrading because of screwing up all the great changes you have made. I don't really see any type of "over-ride" system like zen-cart uses for making changes that don't affect the core files when you need to upgrade unless it is built into the templating file sysem in 68Classifieds. I am new to 68Classfieds and maybe I just don't understand the system.

Could someone that has used the developer and designer editions please give me a description of how both packages were intented to be used and still be able to apply upgrades when they come out. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm ready to buy when I decide on the correct edition to purchase.
Sorry that this got so long!
