Unable to search by extra fields
RC4 could search by extra fields -- can't with upgrade to RC7

I upgraded my test site from V4-RC4 to V4-RC7.

My search by "user" criteria works as expected -- eg search by "category", "city" or "state" works as expected.

When I select a specific category for which I have specified extra fields the extra fields appear as expected but they seem to have no influence at all on the search results. Its as if they have not been included in the query.

Hi Mark,

What type of extra field are trying to search with? I tried the drop down list and it seems to be working.

checkboxes -- don't seem to work

if it works for you -- perhaps I need to try a fresh installation rather than having upgraded from rc4 --could this have something to do with it.

Please see revised issue -- I eliminated register globals as a cause for the issue.

Sorry for the delay --I am still having a problem -- This is what I did .

I wiped out my entire directory and database.

Reinstalled ( not upgrade ) V4_RC7 from scratch

The installation went clean with the following exceptions.

This is a clean installation -- the files have not been modified in any way.

1) I had previously described an issue with script installation indicating globals register was on even though the script was telling me it was on. I have resolved this issue and it turned out there was a problem symlinking the subdirectories. Hence phpinfo.php indicated that register globals was off in the main directory but it was not in subdirectory. I did a brand new installation and and the script indicates register globals is now "off".

2) The second issue I noted was that in the connections file one is supposed to change the file attributes of classifieds.php in the connections folder to 777 prior to installing.

No such file exists but rather there is a file called classifieds-orig.php I therefore changed the permissions of this file to 777.

Once the installation is completed classifeds.php appears and then I changed the permissions to 755 as per the instructions at the end of the script installation. I do point out that the pdf installation instructions indicates that permissions should be set to 644. This is a discrepancy that should be addressed. Unclear what to do with permissions on classified-orig.php but I left it at 777 since there are no specific instructions to do otherwise.

You can take a look at the site at www.counselling.com/canada/

Select the Category "Alberta >> Individual Counselling /Coaching /Therapy

The extra field "test" will appear. This is a checkbox field

There is one ad on the system with the checkbox value "a" checked during the listing creation. The other values are not checked.

The problem: If during search I select "d" for the search parameter the ad still appears. It should not.

At one point in the early version of V4 this worked appropriately but somehow by upgrading to another RC version something changed. I cannot exactly pinpoint when I first noticed this.

The register globals issue has been resolved so there has to be some other reasons for this. I have redone the installation over 3 times to ensure it is not me. Over the next day I am going to install the script on a different host to see if I get the same error.

Thanks

Mark
