I hate to complicate things more but I see in the list of directories you said were on your server one named "home". Look in the "home" directory and see if there is a directory there with the same name as your username you selected when you signed up. It will be shortened to the first eight characters. It could also be the first eight characters of your website name.

Ftp to your server: Look for: /home/username/public_html (or /www) IF you see public_html or www that is where you need to upload your 68c files to so they will be accessable by the public.

Hope this helps!

When in doubt about where you web pages reside for your domain you really should be talking to your host. On the outside looking in as we are all we can do is make educated guesses. There are a multitude of operating systems out there and hosts set things up differently. If you goto your hosts website they should have various getting started documents to help you get things going.

Ok, after doing some searching within my plesk control panel, here is what i found...

- anon ftp
- bin
- cgi-bin
- conf
- error docs
- httpdocs
- httpsdocs
- pd
- private
- statistics
- subdomains
- web users

after searching these folders, i clicked on the folder labeled 'httpdocs', and this is what i found...

4 folders

- css
- img
- picture library
- plesk-stat

and 2 files

- favicon.ico
- index.html

the file 'index.html' is the default home page for my web address at this time... hopefully this information can help narrow down the issue, again, i do understand that so many variables/factors come in to play, and I appreciate all your efforts in resolving this problem.

thanx

If you currently point a web browser to your domain and it brings up the index.html file thats in /httpdocs then create a subfolder within for you classifieds and copy them there and run the install once again.

looking for help docs, tutorials, quick start guides etc supplied by your host is still the best, easiest and most accurate way to make sure we are doing things properly.

Plesk is simply a management front end for your server the docs for it wont necessarily tell you how your host has things configured.

I would look through your hosts knowledgebase etc http://www.dotster.com/support/

Ok, from home i was able to connect to my server with 'cuteftp' updload files with no problems, i am at work now, and because of server restrictions and such, i am unalbe to install and use 'cuteftp'. I was able to install 'smartftp' and run it, but when i try to connect... it throws out this error...

An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.

and it simply won't connect, any ideas what might be causing this to occur?

I would try not to complicate issues by attempting to use software from a location where you do not have a complete understanding of restrictions that are placed on net access. Your error could be caused by your employer blocking certain types of traffic.

Ok, this is where i am at now... within the main server...

list of folder is such:

'bin
'boot
'dev
'etc
'home
'initrd
'lib
'media
'mnt
'opt
'proc
'root
'sbin
'selinux
'srv
'sys
'tmp
'usr
'var

i then go within the 'var folder, and it lists:

'cache
'db
'drweb
'empty
'lib
'local
'lock
'log
'mail
'named
'nis
'opt
'preserve
'qmail
'run
'spool
'tmp
'www
'yp

I then go within the 'www folder, and it lists:

'cgi-bin
'error
'html
'icons
'manual
'usage
'vhosts

I then go within the 'vhosts folder, and it lists:

'.skel
'chroo
'default
'mydomain.com

I then go within the 'mydomain.com folder, and it lists:

'anon_ftp
'bin
'cgi-bin
'conf
'error_docs
'httpdocs
'httpsdocs
'pd
'private
'statistics
'subdomains
'web_users

I then go within the 'httpdocs folder and it lists:

'classifieds (which i created as the folder to house all the 68C data)
'css
'forums (which i created to house the vbulletin data)
'img
'picture_library
'plesk-stat

also the following files:

favicon.ico
index.html (this being the file (page) which shows up when i enter the domain address into ie.

I have uploaded all the instructed files for the 68c developer to the 'classifieds folder, i have chmod'd them as directed, created a database for the program, but now when i go and try to direct IE to the site, i get a pop up window that states...

Some files can harm your computer. If the file information below looks suspicious, or you do not fully trust the source, do not open or save this file.

File name: index.php
File type:
From: mydomain.com

Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer.

* then states the common options to open, save, cancel, or more info...

What to do... sorry in advanced if I am aggrivating yall!

This is what i entered into IE address bar:

www.mydomain.com/classifieds/install/index.php
